HP Interviews Rocco Derrigo

HP had the privilege recently of interviewing Rocco Derrigo, outgoing president of the Mass Building Congress (MBC). He made the following comments in response to some of the questions we asked him about his tenure with the organization and his hopes for its future.

It has been a great honor to be president of the MBC and to lead such a great networking organization for the AEC community. As a result of my involvement in our monthly breakfast meetings, I have had the pleasure of meeting Governor Baker, Mayor Walsh, and the project team for Wynn Boston Harbor. This is an example of the quality meetings the Mass Building Congress is able to put on for our members and the superior networking opportunity our organization offers.

I will be very active with the MBC in the future. Past presidents sit on the executive board, and I am still the chairman of the golf committee. I am already looking forward to another successful tournament at Wollaston Golf Club next June.

The MBC program committee is hard at work looking for exceptional topics and future projects to highlight in our breakfast meetings. We are also changing up our annual dinner event and having a holiday gala at the UMass club in early December!

Any organization involved in the AEC community should feel welcome to attend our events. We offer member and nonmember pricing per event so firms are welcome to try us out and determine if they would like to join. We believe once a firm attends an MBC event they will see the value of membership.

Being MBC president is a significant commitment; we all have our day jobs to perform, and as a volunteer organization, the quality of the MBC is reflective of the effort we are able to put into it.

I will miss the regular involvement in the breakfast program content and interaction with all of the boards and committees. I will, however, remain actively involved with the organization as a board member and past president.

And lastly, I have to thank Jan Breed for her tireless efforts as executive director of the MBC; she is truly the person behind the scenes keeping the organization moving forward.
