Bruner/Cott Appoints Aquilina as Principal

Cambridge, MA – Bruner/Cott & Associates recently announced the appointment of Scott Aquilina, AIA, as a new principal.

Aquilina’s practice specialties, which include historic preservation, master planning, and design for cultural institutions and higher education, closely align with those of Bruner/Cott.

Aquilina comes to the firm from Ann Beha Architects of Boston, where he was employed most recently as senior associate, leading interdisciplinary teams through all phases of project planning, design, and implementation while maintaining a leadership role in marketing outreach.

His portfolio includes design for the Student Life and Performance Building for the New England Conservatory, a project now under construction.

His completed projects include the 2014 Cornell Law School Academic Center, the first phase of a long-term master plan for the school on the Ithaca Campus; 2011 renovations to Williams College’s landmark Chapin Hall for the college’s Music Department; 2010 renovations to Wellesley College’s Alumnae Hall for theatre performance and special events; the 2009 Carl A. Fields Center for Equality and Cultural Understanding at Princeton University; the 2008 expansion of the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH; and the reconstruction of the historic stage at Boston Symphony Hall in 2006.

The Currier Museum of Art project received numerous accolades in 2009 including an AIA Merit Award for Design Excellence, a Boston Society of Architects Honor Award Citation, and an AIANH Excellence in Architecture Award. The Cornell Law School addition received a LEED Platinum certification and was recognized for design excellence by the Society for College and University Planning at its 50th Anniversary National Convention this past July. Previously, Aquilina was employed by Solomon + Bauer Architects (Watertown, MA) from 1996-2001. There, he completed the renovation and expansion of the Albany Institute of History and Art, which garnered an AIA New York Preservation Award and a Masonry Institute Award in 2001.
