Blakeslee Hosts Gilbane Engineers

Rita Seraderian gives a presentation on the uses of precast/prestressed Concrete.

Branford, CT – Blakeslee Prestress, Inc. hosted a visit in November from project engineers of Gilbane Building Company’s Connecticut office. About 20 guests joined for the quarterly engineering peer group meeting.

After a continental breakfast, Blakeslee personnel escorted two groups into the plant where they learned the many different facets of the production facility. They were led through areas such as the quality control lab, batch plant, production, and finishing areas.

Jim Fitzgerald, quality control manager, explains the different testing that is achieved in the lab.

Presentations by Rita L. Seraderian, the executive director of PCI Northeast; Bryan Eastman, Cad manager; and Chris Carasone, production control and IT manager, touched on various topics of interest to the group.

Lunch was followed by a round table discussion. Al Ignoto, design assist manager, discussed how the design assist process works, and then a question and answer session with Jim Braun, engineering manager, and Michelle Haman, senior project engineer, among others, fielding questions.

Blakeslee Prestress felt that hosting this event was not only beneficial to the Gilbane’s engineers, but it solidifies Blakeslee’s investment to work toward a successful and rewarding project for all.
