Acentech Promotes Two Consultants

Cambridge, MA – Acentech announced two staff promotions in its Cambridge headquarters. David A. Bateman, Jr., CTS-D, has been promoted to principal consultant in the Systems group, and Alicia J. Larsen has been promoted to senior consultant in the Architectural Acoustics group.

Bateman joined Acentech in 2000. He has provided project leadership on a variety of project types. He is currently working on sound and video upgrades at a world-class performing arts center on Nantucket that includes 2,600-seat and 1,040-seat venues.

He has taught numerous AIA-certified courses for architects and will be leading another session this November at ArchitectureBoston Expo (ABX) on conferencing and calibrating the participant’s experience.

Larsen joined Acentech in 2008. She has worked on a full range of project types including multifamily residential buildings, higher education facilities, K-12

schools, performance venues, corporate offices, and fitness centers. With this promotion, she will expand her role as project manager on larger and more complex projects.

Her current projects include Mill Creek residential developments in Medford, and Hopkinton, the Hotel Commonwealth Expansion in Boston, and the Holbrook PreK-12 School.

Ranging in size from an eight-person video  conference suite to a 1,700-seat multi-function auditorium, Bateman’s designs and installations vary from videoconference systems and distance learning facilities, to emergency operations centers for military installations and universities., several university classroom upgrades to make use of current collaboration technologies and growing trends in teaching pedagogy, and a unique culinary center.

Larsen  is especially interested in providing sound and vibration isolation for mixed-use buildings, community noise issues, and acoustical measurement and analysis. She has increasingly taken a leadership role within the Acoustics group with her development of project management techniques, and her use of Acentech’s remote monitoring technology.
