New CVS Breaks Ground

Springfield, MADavenport Fund 1 announced the recent groundbreaking for a new CVS Pharmacy on Main Street in Springfield.

Attending the CVS groundbreaking were (l-r): Shane Milette, South End Citizens Council; State Rep. Carlos Gonzalez;  Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno; Robin Peterson, CVS real estate director (at mic); Kevin Kennedy, Springfield chief development officer; and Charles Irving, Davenport Companies / Focus Springfield

Construction of the store completes development of Davenport Square, a city block destroyed by Springfield’s 2011 tornado. The Davenport Fund acquired the parcel in 2016 and initiated redevelopment with medical office space, day care, apartments, and now CVS.

The building is the result of design collaboration between the Springfield Planning Department and CVS’s real estate team. The new structure is a single-story blend of brick and wood crafted to meld with the city’s historic streetscape.

CVS will operate across from a coming Wahlburgers, and MGM Resorts International’s $1 billion casino development.
