2017 UA/Massachusetts Apprentice Contest

Providence, RI – A formal ceremony was held recently at the Lincoln School, 301 Butler Avenue in Providence, for apprentices who participated in May in the UA/Massachusetts Apprentice Contest in Dorchester, Mass.

Over the course of a two-day contest, apprentices took exams in their fields and completed events in their division and general areas of knowledge, which included crane signals, knots, and braze projects.

The pipefitter apprentices piped a heat exchange, the welding apprentices completed a spool project, and the refrigeration apprentices worked with hydronic piping, electrical wiring of a boiler, and pumps/controls.

First Place winners moved on to the UA/District I Apprentice Contest that will be held in Connecticut in June.

Local 537 will be represented by Peter Zamagni in the welding division, Christopher Rovaldi in the pipefitter division, and Michael Flores in the refrigeration division.
