Hampton, NH – Historic Ashworth by the Sea hotel has occupied a picturesque corner of Ocean Boulevard in Hampton Beach for 100 years. The hotel recently underwent a series of renovations, with the latest beginning in January 2015 and, was completed in advance of the busy summer season.
PROCON, of Manchester, was the architect and construction manager for the renovations. The property is owned by XSS Hotels of Manchester and is being managed by Colwen Hotels of Portsmouth.
The 80,000sf hotel has been refreshed to blend in modern updates, while retaining its historic appeal. The newly renovated lobby space features a contemporary design with fresh color schemes and artwork. Tastefully appointed seating allows guests to enjoy breathtaking beach views through a new glass wall.
The front entrance was relocated and outfitted with automatic glass doors for better guest accessibility. Tech-savvy travelers can stay connected in the newly added 24-hour business center, that includes two computers, printer, and complimentary Wi-Fi service.
The 107-room Ashworth is the only full-service oceanfront hotel in Hampton Beach.

The public bathrooms also were upgraded with sleek modern elements.
Additionally, guests can now enjoy the convenience of a new 24-Hour market for sundries. Customer feedback about the recent renovations has been very positive; and one guest remarked, “We visited there recently, and the hotel looked so amazing!” Another guest said, “I come here every year, and was stunned by the beautiful new look when you walk through the front door.”
The hotel features many additional travel-friendly amenities including a heated pool and fitness room. 6,000sf of private function/meeting spaces are an attractive venue for weddings, corporate retreats, or social gatherings. The hotel also has two onsite restaurants with oceanfront views.
Ashworth offers spacious double queen or single king accommodations, and seven executive junior suites. Guests of the hotel get to experience staying in a uniquely designed rooms with the added bonus of spectacular coastline views from many of the rooms. Summer vacationers may also take advantage of the nautical-themed Ashworth Summer Cottage, that is steps away from the beach and sleeps six.
An abundance of popular attractions are just minutes away, such as whale watching, deep sea fishing, museums, live entertainment, and tax-free outlet shopping. While the recent updates have added modern splashes to the iconic hotel, the Ashworth remains a time-honored seaside experience for the leisure traveler, that continues to offer authentic New England charm.
