Lt. Governor Karyn Polito with Plymouth Town Manager Melissa Arrighi, and other local leaders

Plymouth, MA Nadeau Corporation Construction Development and Engineering joined the Seaport Economic Council,  the project team and local leaders on May 23rd at a groundbreaking ceremony for the new harbormaster’s facility on Plymouth Harbor.

Nadeau has been awarded the construction contract for the new maritime facility.

Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, chair of the Seaport Economic Council, joined local leaders to celebrate the occasion that marks a major step in the town’s effort to expand and secure the harbor while increasing accessibility for residents and tourists.

“I’m honored to be in Plymouth to kick off the construction of this much-needed facility, and look forward to returning and celebrating its impact on the harbor upon completion,” said Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, .

When complete, the new $3.3 million maritime center will replace the small building that currently houses all harbormaster operations behind East Bay Grille on the waterfront.

Designed by OLSON LEWIS + Architects,  the new  facility will have laundry, showers and public restrooms for transient boaters, as well as an office and bathrooms for the harbormaster and his staff.

The new facility will provide space for four full time staff members as well as seasonal employees during the summer months. It will also have space for meetings of the harbor committee and rooms to accommodate safe boating, CPR and first aid classes.

With the design exceeding the 35 foot height limit, the project had to clear zoning board of appeals, but its height will allow for greater oversight of the boat ramp, breakwater, and aquaculture development zone.
