Bridgewater, MA – Over the years, Callahan Construction Managers has built its reputation as a quality builder in the senior housing market, working with clients such as LCB Senior Living, Benchmark Senior Living, The Northbridge Companies, and Wingate.
Most recently Callahan celebrated the grand opening of The Residence at Valley Farms, located in Ashland, Mass.
Owned by LCB Senior Living and designed by The Architectural Team, the project includes 80 units with a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom floor plans, as well as a Reflections Memory Care wing for residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory impairments. The Residence also includes a variety of common areas: living rooms, library, computer room, private dining, entertainment, recreation, and cafés.
In addition to The Residence at Valley Farms, Callahan recently completed Laurelwood at The Pinehills, a new three-story, 88,322sf senior living community in Plymouth, Mass. The building, owned by the Northbridge Companies and designed by The Architectural Team, includes a traditional New England gambrel roof and warm Cape Cod design and has a combination of studio, one-, and-two bedroom assisted living and independent living apartments. A 29-apartment memory care wing was incorporated into the design for residents with memory impairments or Alzheimer’s disease.
Presently, Callahan is in the process of completing five more senior housing developments. The projects include Wingate at Needham Phase 3, Benchmark at Woburn and Norwood, and two more projects with LCB Senior Living, The Residence at Vinnin Square in Swampscott, Mass., and Melrose Station in Melrose, Mass., which both recently broke ground.
Vinnin Square is a 76,000sf, 84-unit senior living complex that will include a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, and will feature a Reflections Memory Care wing.
Melrose Station is a 86,885sf, five-story senior living complex. The complex will include 90 assisted living units, a self-contained Reflections Memory Care Wing located on the second floor, and common spaces.
Wingate at Needham – Phase 3 is an addition to Wingate Phase 2. The addition consists of a three-story steel and wood-frame building that includes an 8,000sf basement. The footprint of the addition is 23,634sf with 81,494sf of gross living space and will host 52 assisted living units.
Benchmark Woburn is an 87-unit structural steel building that is based on a prototypical design that Benchmark Senior Living has adopted for its properties. The building consists of 20 Memory Care units which provide a variety of services for those with Alzheimer’s and other illnesses that cause memory impairment. The remaining 67 units are Assisted Living units which contain individual bathrooms, kitchenettes and living spaces. There are a number of amenities within the building that provide residents with options for daily living.
Benchmark Norwood is a new three-story, structural steel building with a roof comprised of LGMF trusses. The 79,300sf structure provides for a 90-unit senior living facility with 21 Memory Care units and 69 Assisted Living units throughout. There are 35 studio units, 30 one-bedroom units, and 25 2-bedroom units. At completion of the project, the facility will include a commercial kitchen, dining area, and bistro, library, day spa, onsite dentist office, common area living rooms, exercise rooms, computer room, arts/craft room, beauty salon, commercial laundry, landscaped grounds, courtyard, walking path, and a pergola.
