Lowell, MA – Chapman Construction/Design completed a 5,300sf renovation of a behavioral health secure holding suite
at Lowell General Hospital’s Saints Campus.

Working alongside architects LWDA and engineers WSP, the team transformed the existing space into a safe emergency holding facility with private secure holding rooms, restrooms, a nurses’ station, and a multi-patient treatment area. Additional upgrades to the space included two new air conditioning units and a new air-cooled chiller.

“The successful and safe completion of the project required careful coordination throughout all stages, including preparing for construction in an occupied hospital, procurement of specialty long-lead-time materials, and the phasing of mechanical upgrades,” said Chapman’s healthcare sector leader Jason Grinacoff. “We are happy we could provide this much-needed space and create a safer environment for the hospital staff, patients, and community.”
