This year was particularly special with the announcement of the first Building Our Future Scholarship recipients. The mission of ABC’s Scholarship is to help develop the future talent of the construction industry by providing financial assistance to worthy candidates pursuing a post-secondary education in construction related fields. This year, Evan Hall, a senior attending Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Tyler Kleinsasser, a junior attending South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, received scholarships.

The Safety & Education Dinner is ABC/GCI’s premier event, celebrating member companies’ commitment to worker safety and training, the talented instructors dedicated to educating the next generation of industry leaders, and the students working long hours during the day and attending classes at night to improve their knowledge and skills. “This is a night to recognize our students and their employers who continue to raise the standards of safety, training, and education in the construction industry,” commented GCI President Barbara Lagergren.

The launch of the Building Our Future Scholarship coincides with ABC’s strategic initiative to prioritize workforce development and construction career outreach, working in tandem with GCI and the Merit Apprenticeship Program. With the challenges of an aging construction workforce and labor shortage, developing future talent is one or our association’s most important priorities. With this scholarship, ABC will help make it possible for deserving young people to pursue a career in construction at a critical time for the industry.

ABC & GCI congratulates this year’s winners for their commitment to producing quality work in a safe and responsible manner and thank everyone who attended this amazing event.
