Jewett to Build New YMCA in Exeter

Exeter, NH – Southern District YMCA has partnered with Raymond, N.H.-based  Jewett Construction Company, Inc. to build a ground-up, new YMCA  in Exeter.

Jewett Construction has a long history of building facilities for New Hampshire non-profits, including  the Boy Scouts of America — projects for which they also fundraised — as well as the historic renovation of the non-profit America’s Credit Museum in Manchester. A volunteer YMCA Facility Committee is working with Jewett Construction to design a facility that will meet the needs of the extended community and will fulfill the focus of the Y on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The approx. 30,000sf building will be expansive including a cardio and weight room, group fitness studios, an indoor track, a full-court gymnasium, a multi-purpose community room, locker rooms, and space dedicated to watching children while parents use the facility. A second phase will join an indoor pool with access through the locker rooms.

“We’re pleased to be onboard for such an exciting project,” says Craig Jewett, President of JCCI. “A community-based facility like this will benefit generations to come.” “We are pleased that the selection process has led us to Jewett Construction,” says Rob McGregor, Executive Director of Southern District YMCA. “We have confidence in their experience to build a Y where everyone is comfortable.” The Exeter Y will bring the generations together with affordable programs.
