Boston Project Wins Steel Design Award

Boston – The Exchange building at 100 Federal St. in Boston has been given a Merit Award in the $15 million to $75 million category in the 2019 Innovative Design in Engineering and Architecture Structural Steel (IDEAS) awards program conducted annually by the American Institute of Steel Construction.

The IDEAS award is the highest honor bestowed on building projects by the U.S. structural steel industry.

Thirteen winning projects and their respective team members will be recognized at the 2019 NASCC: The Steel Conference, April 3 to 5 in St. Louis.

“The building’s unique structural design and construction cannot shy away from attention, and McNamara · Salvia is proud to have worked on this great project with such a fantastic team,” said Adam McCarthy, principal at McNamara · Salvia, structural engineer for the project.

Other members of the project team included owner/developer, Boston Properties; lead design firm, Perkins + Will; general contractor, Turner Construction Co. ; and MEP engineer, Bala TNP.
