Haverhill, MA – In the post-industrial gateway city of Haverhill, a new riverfront mixed-use complex called Harbor Place is helping to transform the downtown into a more walkable and livable destination. A dedication ceremony was held recently for the project.

Designed by The Architectural Team, Inc. (TAT) for clients The Planning Office for Urban Affairs and Greater Haverhill Foundation, Harbor Place creates a cornerstone, 176,000sf development on a critical, 1.5-acre downtown site. The transit-oriented development offers a vital mix of uses including commercial and retail storefronts, a University of Massachusetts satellite campus space, office space, and 80 residential units.

“More than just a building solution, Harbor Place is intended as a true nexus for economic and cultural activity,” says TAT Associate Jay Szymanski. “For gateway cities like Haverhill, the crux of revitalization requires a full mix of housing, office, retail, commercial and restaurant spaces that draw people downtown. And having been involved in the long-term strategic transformation of Haverhill for decades, it’s exciting for us at TAT to help reconnect the community to the waterfront, and to bring together different community areas and residents to each other.”
