Watertown, MA – Tocci Building Companies (Tocci), a Boston-area construction management company, recently announced  that it kicked-off the renovation of a 120,000 square-foot (sf) facility at 65 Grove Street in Watertown, MA. The $13,000,000 project will transform an outdated manufacturing plant into a premier office space.

65 Grove Street, formerly the home of GE Ionics, currently features a three-story brick façade, ribbon windows, and an attached parking structure. Tocci will work alongside Cresset Development on behalf of property owners Cresset Grove, LLC. The project team includes architects MDS/Miller Dyer Spears, structural engineers Souza True & Partners, MEP engineers AKF Group, civil engineers McKenzie Engineering Group, and architects Kyle Zick Landscape Architecture.

“With selective demolition transforming more than half of the façade from brick to a dramatic glass curtain wall, the impact of this renovation will reposition the manufacturing facility into a vibrant open office environment with exposed tulip columns, high ceilings and an abundance of natural light with increased curb appeal,” commented John Tocci, Chief Enabling Officer at Tocci. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Cresset on our second project together.”

Tocci will leverage decades of experience to efficiently coordinate with all parties, including glass and design build mechanical subcontractors, to successfully manage the project through all phases. Property improvements to 65 Grove Street will include significant façade improvements, ground water infiltration systems consisting of bio-swales (with added plant life), a 290-space parking garage, and enhanced landscaping. Upon completion in May 2016, the community will benefit from transforming an outdated facility into a modern, first class office setting in a sought-after location just outside of Boston.

65 Grove Street is located within Coolidge Square in Watertown, MA, providing easy access to Boston and various public transportation options.
