Philip Laird Elected Fellow of the American Institute of Architects

BostonThe 2017 Jury of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) elected Philip Laird, president of ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge, to its prestigious College of Fellows.

The Fellows designation honors architects who have made significant contributions to architecture and society,and have achieved a high standard of excellence in the profession. The newly elected Fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony in April at the 2017 AIA Conference.

During a 37-year career as an architect and project leader at ARC, Laird has worked with clients, colleagues, and project stakeholders as an advocate for design excellence and environmental sustainability. Within the profession and the community, his multiple volunteer roles include serving as a board member or building committee member for nonprofit institutions, including St. Paul’s School, The Trustees of Reservations Advisory Council, and Shady Hill School.

As a leader in the AIA, he continues to influence and advance design excellence. He served as Chair of the AIA Committee on Design, where his responsibilities included planning, chairing, and presenting at the Committee on Design’s 2016 International Conference in Havana, Cuba and its National Conference on Portland, Oregon. He also served as a juror on several national AIA awards programs including both the 2017 Gold Medal Award and the AIA 2017 Firm Award. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado, and a LEED-Accredited Professional.
