MGM Springfield Announces Grand Opening

Springfield, MA – MGM Springfield recently announced details for the resort’s public grand opening on Friday, August 24, 2018

The festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of State and Main Streets, Downtown Springfield with a lively procession featuring the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales and other surprise entertainment alongside hundreds of the resort’s employees, construction workers and local dignitaries. Guests are invited to view the procession as it heads down Main Street and ends at the entrance to the property.

Once the procession has arrived at MGM Springfield at approximately 11 a.m., doors will officially open, welcoming guests in to experience the energy and excitement of w England’s first integrated luxury resort and entertainment destination.

MGM Springfield is working with the Springfield Police Department, Massachusetts State Police and other state and local agencies to effectively manage expected high-volume traffic, parking and transportation on opening day. Details will be released in the coming weeks, along with travel suggestions for those planning to visit Downtown Springfield to share in this historic day.

MGM Springfield also will host several private invitation-only events in the week leading up to the August 24 public opening.

MGM Springfield Offerings:

  • Accommodations: MGM Springfield’s six-story hotel will be a whimsical yet sophisticated retreat. Design details—including factory-style paned glass and Edison bulb fixtures—will harken to Springfield’s industrial roots, while eclectic artwork will evoke the locale’s creative iconography, visually referencing Dr. Seuss, Emily Dickinson and Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology will be standard throughout all rooms, enabling guests to conveniently stay connected.
  • Open-Air Plaza: Inspired by the classic New England town common, MGM Springfield will feature The Plaza, a lively outdoor space highlighted by The Armory. The historic arsenal will offer a remarkable backdrop for the open-air plaza, which will feature live events, local artisans, farmers markets and seasonal programming including an outdoor ice rink.
  • Dining: MGM Springfield will offer an array of new-to-market food and beverage experiences, including Cal Mare by James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Mina  and Chef Adam Sobel, fine steaks and seafood at The Chandler Steakhouse with Hell’s Kitchen season 14 winner Meghan Gill serving as executive chef, MGM’s signature TAP Sports Bar, the bustling South End Market, and multiple bars and lounges.
  • Entertainment: Guests will be able to enjoy a variety of entertainment options at MGM Springfield, including a 125,000-square-foot casino, Topgolf® Swing Suite, an eight-screen Regal Cinemas complex, the 10-lane bowling center within TAP Sports Bar, a serene spa, and an 8,000-square-foot pool situated within a terraced rooftop garden.
