Cambridge, MA – CTA Construction Managers announced that it recently completed the 12th of 36 phases on the Newtowne Court renovation project, that includes updates to eight buildings and 268 affordable housing units in Cambridge.

CTA Construction and Baker/Wohl Associates, the architect and owner project manager on the site, started the $44 million project in 2015. The project consists of a comprehensive interior and exterior renovation to 268 affordable family units at Newtowne Court, owned by the Cambridge Housing Authority.

The renovation plan calls for extensive upgrades to the interior of the units, including removal of asbestos-containing materials, engineered wood floors, drywall, and paint, replacement of all windows, new HVAC systems, electrical upgrades, plumbing upgrades, and installation of a fire protection system.

Improvements will also be made to the bathrooms and kitchens, including new finishes and fixtures, appliances, countertops, and cabinet doors.

CTA Construction has completed the first 12 phases of the Newtowne Court renovation, and will continue work on the remaining units for the next year.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
