City Kids Continues Commitment to Dorchester Winter Farmers Market Coupon Program

Dorchester, MA – City Kids is continuing its commitment to sustaining the Dorchester Winter Farmers Market (DWFM) coupon program. City Kids initially joined the cause last year when the DWFM coupon program faced uncertainty due to funding constraints. The City Kids team visited the market to raise awareness about its resources and foster connections with Director Cynthia Loesch-Johnson and the BOLD Teens.

The DWFM is a resource for underserved individuals and families in Dorchester seeking access to nutritious food during the winter months. Established by City Realty Group managing partners, Fred Starikov and Stephen Whalen, City Kids is a youth education nonprofit committed to empowering Boston students with resources and technologies to ignite their intellectual curiosity.

Dorchester Winter Farmers Market is the sole winter market in the area, offering a diverse array of farm-fresh produce, baked goods, meat, specialty foods from local producers, as well as art and craft items. Addressing the issue of food and nutrition insecurity in this city neighborhood, which faces a pronounced shortage of nutritious food options, the DWFM is organized by Codman Square Health Center, Codman Square Neighborhood Council, and the BOLD Teens. The youth leadership of BOLD Teens serves to educate families about the significance of a local food system and distribute farmers market coupons to those in need.
