Hyannis, MA – Brown Lindquist Fenuccio & Raber Architects, Inc. (BLFR) announced the completion of the new 80,000sf headquarters for Cape Cod 5, located at 1500 lyannough Road in Hyannis. The new corporate campus, known as “HQ5,” features many notable energy efficient and smart amenities and Cape Cod‘s first parking garage.
The building‘s exterior features “smart” dynamic glazing panels by ViewGlass that automatically adjust their tint according to daylight conditions, reducing glare and solar heat gain to provide a comfortable and energy efficient work space. Nearly 700 rooftop solar panels generate 233 kW of AC power, enough to power 40 homes and significantly reduce energy costs.
High efficiency HVAC system, lighting and smart building control systems drive energy consumption down to one third of a code compliant building of similar size. A two story precast concrete parking structure accommodates 217 vehicles and allows for more of the site to be dedicated to green space.
The project team includes Stantec, architect; Odeh, structural; Arup, MEP/FP/acoustics/Leed; Walker, parking; WJE, envelope; Nelson, interiors; Groundworks, Jenick Studio, landscape; Baxter Nye, civil; VHB, traffic; Gensler and others.
Cape Cod 5 aspired to create a modern, environmentally friendly workplace with a focus on health and wellness, drawing inspiration from large corporate headquarters in the Greater Boston area.
HQ5 provides administrative, training and conference space for an expected 350 to 400 daily occupants. Employees will enjoy amenities including a large cafeteria serving fresh, healthy food; a large multi-purpose event and conference space; and a fitness center.
