AEM Completes 70,000sf Facility for Clark University

Clark University's MACD building

Worcester, MA – American Energy Management (AEM) recently completed a new construction project at Clark University in Worcester, unveiling the Center for Media, Arts, Computing, and Design (MACD) building in the fall of 2023.

AEM completed the comprehensive project in December, involving the installation of an advanced Building Automation System for this 4-story, 70,000sf facility. Housing the Computer Science, Visual and Performing Arts, and the Becker School of Design & Technology programs, the cutting-edge building features a geothermal system for heating and cooling, along with a heat recovery chiller and chilled beams.

The state-of-the-art building’s automation system manages the central plant equipment, which includes the geothermal system, pumps, central air handlers, and energy recovery system. Additionally, it oversees various components such as 82 active Beams, 77 VAV boxes, 13 Return VAV boxes, two fan coil units, three hot water unit heaters, three general exhaust fans, and more. Representatives of AEM say the result is a highly efficient, comfortable, and seamlessly operated structure.
