Newton, MA – Beacon Architectural Associates of Boston recently completed a project at Mount Ida College that was both a renovation and addition to an existing building.

Beacon converted Carlson Hall, an underutilized building on the Mount Ida campus, into a striking 280-seat dining hall with a retail center, café, and lounge with a variety of dining and seating options for students, faculty, and visitors.

Structure Tone was the general contractor for the project.

A new athletic center is a 4,000sf addition to the existing athletic facility. The addition is encased in glass and houses a new visiting team locker room, showers, entry vestibule on the lower level, and a fitness center and yoga studio on the second level. It also features a back-lit mural, which creates a visual signature for students, faculty, and visitors.

The dental school design is a high-tech teaching space where dental students are able to treat patients from the surrounding communities, allowing them to gain clinical experience and improve their diagnostic skills. The space is clean, modern, and functional. Mount Ida plans to double the size of its dental hygiene program over the next few years.
