Lisa Newman, Purchasing Agent, Nappa Electrical Contractors
With more than 25 years in purchasing, Lisa Newman brings a seasoned perspective to her role as a purchasing agent at Nappa Electrical Contractors. Lisa joined Nappa Electric in 2023 and plays a key role supporting both Purchasing and Project Management. Prior to joining the company, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in business administration from DeVry University.
Throughout her career, Lisa has maintained long-standing vendor partnerships as well as a continuously developing understanding of the commercial electrical market. That experience quickly made her an important asset to Nappa Electric’s Purchasing Department. She understands that decisions made at the procurement level have a direct and measurable impact in the field. Her ability to align purchasing strategy with jobsite needs keeps projects on schedule and within budget.
Lisa speaks openly about working in a traditionally male-dominated industry, embracing both the challenges and opportunities it presents while encouraging other women to pursue careers in construction. “Burnout is real,” she says. “Pressure to prove expertise and competence can weigh heavily on your overall well-being. Once you find that work-life balance, stick with it and everything will fall into place.”
Lisa’s advice to women considering a career in the trades is simple: Be willing to learn to better yourself and your skills. Growth comes from asking questions and doing the work.
