Tomasetti, Inc. Wins Silver Engineering Excellence Award

Boston University Center

Boston – The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) recently named Thornton Tomasetti, Inc. as a winner of a 2018 Silver Engineering Excellence Awards for design work on Boston University’s Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Sciences & Engineering.

Thornton Tomasetti, Inc., with offices in Boston, was part of the team retained by Boston University to design the school’s Center for Integrated Life Sciences & Engineering, a 170,000sf state-of-the-art building housing researchers, scholars and staff working on new technology.

The need for a flexible, interdisciplinary research environment to accommodate current research and offer adaptable space for future exploration, combined with the unique characteristics of the building, presented numerous structural challenges throughout the design and construction process.

Thornton Tomasetti and the entire design team addressed and solved these challenges to ultimately deliver an outstanding, sustainable project on time and within budget.
