SelecTech Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech, Inc.

SelecTech, Inc., a  manufacturer of  flooring products,  recently celebrated its 25th year in business.

“One of my current business partners, Michael King, and I worked for a medical waste disposal company. The problem we were asked to solve had to do with disinfecting and recycling plastic from used syringes for re-use in some capacity,” said Thomas Ricciardelli, president of SelecTech, Inc.

“Our study and research revealed the recycled materials could never reach a high enough purity level to be reused in conventional plastics processes. But that didn’t preclude the recycled materials from being used in other ways and that led Michael and I to explore other ways.”

The pair’s first endeavor was repurposing plastic wrap from pallets and creating planters. Those planters sold at big box stores like Home Depot and Walmart. Thus, began SelecTech back in 1993.

Sticking to its initial premise of utilizing recycled materials, SelecTech flooring products are made using recycled material and are 100% recyclable.

“It’s been quite a run and it’s difficult to fathom that it’s been 25 years,” added Ricciardelli. “Still, with the advancements we’ve made with our tiles, particularly StaticStop, our ESD tile, and our FreeStyle tiles for labs and cleanrooms, you could say are best days are yet to come.”
