NAIOP Massachusetts Honors Members for Extraordinary Leadership

Needham, MA – NAIOP Massachusetts, The Commercial Real Estate Development Association, announced the recipients of the chapter’s 2023 Government Affairs Champion Award and the 2023 President’s Award. The awards will be presented at the chapter’s Annual Meeting on Nov. 28.

The NAIOP President’s Award will be presented to Michael Wilcox of The Bulfinch Companies in recognition of his exceptional leadership, vision, and creativity as a longtime member of NAIOP’s Leadership Council and Program Committee.

“Each year the NAIOP President’s Award is given to an individual who has made significant contributions to benefit the commercial real estate industry,” said Patrick McMahon, senior vice president, regional development at Federal Realty Investment Trust and 2023 NAIOP Massachusetts president. “Over the course of several decades, Mike has shaped NAIOP through his input on numerous strategic initiatives and countless programs. As a direct result of his leadership, NAIOP has provided timely and informative events that draw industry leaders.”

Ned Abelson of Goulston & Storrs, Sherry Clancy of National Development, and Larry Feldman of GZA GeoEnvironmental will receive this year’s Government Affairs Champion Award in honor of their tremendous contributions to NAIOP’s advocacy as longtime members of NAIOP’s Brownfields Redevelopment Committee.

“Since the passage of the Brownfields Act in 1998, Ned, Sherry and Larry have worked tirelessly to ensure regulations, policies, and laws are in place that support the cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated sites in Massachusetts,” said Tamara Small, CEO of NAIOP Massachusetts. “Their technical expertise and input have allowed NAIOP to serve as the voice of the industry on these critical issues. Massachusetts is a national leader in the redevelopment of brownfields thanks to their work. NAIOP is grateful for their leadership.”
