Portland, ME – The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) has named Simpson, Gumpertz & Heger as a finalist for the 2021 Engineering Excellence Award for its work at Maine Medical Center (MMC) in Portland.
With a two-story vertical addition to the Coulombe Family Tower, MMC continues their mission of expanding and modernizing the hospital. The addition, which houses the Susan Donnell Konkel Pavilion for Surgical Oncology and Marshall L. and Susan Gibson Pavilion for Medical Oncology, allows MMC to advance cancer care and adapt to evolving health care needs. The project team also helped MMC solve a critical challenge: relocating the heliport. The Linda and Diana Bean Sisters Heliport can simultaneously support two helicopters and helps MMC expedite the time to emergency patient care.
