Portsmouth, NH – Kate Hamblet, AIA, an architect in JSA’s Portsmouth office, has passed the Architectural Registration Examination (ARE). The examination is prepared by the National Council of Architectural Registration Board and formally
licenses architects. Candidates for licensure must earn a professional degree in architecture, complete a lengthy internship, and obtain a passing score in all seven divisions of the ARE, which include: Building Design & Construction Systems, Building Systems, Construction Documents & Services, Programming Planning & Practice, Schematic Design, Site Planning & Design, and Structural Systems.

Hamblet, who grew up in New Hampshire and received her bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of New Arizona, is a member of JSA’s senior living design studio, and is working on projects throughout New England. She was the founding president of the Roger Williams College chapter of Habitat for Humanity and
spent time in New Orleans working on a Habitat project.

“I was drawn to architecture because it’s a collaborative process, and an interesting mix of art and science,” said Hamblet. “I enjoy watching the project moving from design concepts to a finished, occupied building.” “We are pleased that Kate has successfully completed her licensing,” said Jim Warner, FAIA, JSA’s principal-in-charge of senior living. “She has become an integral part of our Senior Living Studio and this will afford her the opportunity to continue to increase her contribution to our projects, clients and JSA.”
