J.M. Electrical Completes PwC HQ

Boston – J.M. Electrical Company, Inc., professionals in advanced automated building system installations and headquartered in Lynnfield, has completed another successful project in Boston’s Seaport District, marking a significant milestone for the company in the Hub’s newest area development. J.M. Electrical completed project operations at the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) headquarters, that included the installation of the facility’s building automation and heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and cooling (HVAC) system for the 18-story building.

“There has been significant development in the Seaport District over the past decade, and we are happy that we’ve been able to make noteworthy contributions to this area of the city,” said Paul Guarracino, president at J.M. Electrical Company.

At the PwC headquarters, J.M. Electrical installed a building automation system that ties the facility’s HVAC system to one user interface. In addition, the firm monitors and controls a rain water collection system, which is estimated to contribute to a 40% reduction in water use at the facility. Because of the significant energy-efficient technology installed at the facility, in part by J.M. Electrical, the PwC headquarters was awarded the LEED Platinum Building Certification. To ensure that the project was completed on time and on budget, the team worked an aggressive schedule from November 2014 to December 2015, with two foremen overseeing up to eight electricians on the construction site during day-to-day operations.

“Our partners, who recognize the importance of sophisticated building systems, have chosen to work with us because of our proven track record of ensuring successful project completion. Because of that, we’ve been fortunate to collaborate on many projects in this area, including the PwC Headquarters, and we hope to build on our success well into the future,” Guarracino said.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen as a partner on such a landmark facility and were happy to collaborate with all parties to ensure that this project was completed on time and on budget,” said Niall Black, Project Manager at J.M. Electrical. “Today’s advanced building systems are amazingly sophisticated, but it takes a wide range of skills and knowledge to ensure that all the systems work seamlessly and reliably, especially in a building with strict requirements like the PwC Headquarters project. The end result will save money and energy, while also providing a better work experience for all occupants.”

Some of the notable projects J.M. Electrical has completed in the Seaport District include the Vertex Pharmaceuticals Headquarters, Boston Convention Center, Waterside Residences and Envoy Hotel. J.M. Electrical has more than 30 years of experience and expertise in the installation of advanced automated building systems which from the beginning have been the cornerstone of the business. The experts will also continue to focus on retrofit, performance contracting, building automation controls, instrumentation, and fire alarm/integrated security systems.
