Boston, MA – Robert Stein, AIA, LEED AP, Principal of Integrated Design Group, Inc. has been selected to speak at the SCUP North Atlantic Regional Conference on Thursday, March 17 at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

The presentation, “Vital University Technology: Update Data Centers Economically for Skyrocketing Needs” is a collaboration with Brown University and Gilbane Building Company. It is based on Brown University’s 1980s data center, for which Integrated Design Group designed and implemented plans for upgrading within budget and operational constraints.

Says Stein of the Brown University data center project, “It is most satisfying when one is able to help solve a difficult problem, and more so when a team can work together as well as this one did (owner, designer and constructor). From the planning, through the design and construction, this team effort delivered a project to the user team that met their needs on a budget they could afford and in a timeframe that worked.”

The theme of the 2011 SCUP North Atlantic Regional Conference, “What’s the Mission? Where’s the Money? Planning in Service of the Mission” focuses on the recent economic downturn and how higher education officials have had to optimize resources. For the past 26 years, SCUP’s enlightening conference series has explored current themes and challenges in higher education planning.
