Hebron Elementary to Install Lead-Free Pipes

Hamden, CT –  Silver / Petrucelli + Associates (S/P+A) has been selected by the Town of Hebron to mitigate lead contamination that has plagued the drinking water at its elementary school for more than two years.  It is believed to be the first such school-wide lead pipe replacement in Connecticut.

The building committee suspects that the high lead content caused by lead solder used to fuse pipes when Hebron Elementary School was built in 1943 spread to the piping in the newer additions over time.

To meet regulatory guidelines, all piping at the school will be replaced with a lead-free solution and, as the EPA considers tightening allowable levels even further, the town will instantly meet any new regulations issued.
