Harriman Elevates Five to Associate and Senior Associate

Portlant, ME – Harriman and The Cecil Group recently announcde that Jim Fortin, PE and David Story, PE, LEED AP have been promoted to Senior Associate and Leonard Lamoreau, CPA, Peter Pinkerton NCIDQ, IIDA and Valerie Conyngham, CPSM have been promoted to Associate.

Valerie Conyngham, CPSM, Director of Business Strategy ~ Promoted to Associate

As a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) with 19 years of experience, Valerie uses her expertise in marketing, operations, financial management and human resources to lead Harriman’s strategic and business planning direction, setting and ensuring the firm’s business goals to ultimately increase efficiency and profitability. Her experience extends to helping municipal clients think about their communities through the lens of brand and place. In Salem, MA she worked with the City to develop a framework for Salem’s Artists’ Row that considered both design and programmatic changes. She worked on the competition management team for Connect Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA and developed concepts to integrate storytelling and technology into wayfinding in Concord, MA. Valerie has written and spoken publicly about networking and strategic planning and serves on the Board of Directors of the Society for Marketing Professional Services, Boston Chapter (SMPS) as Communications Director. She graduated from State University of New York College at Oswego with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, and from Emerson College with a Master of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communication.

Jim Fortin, PE, SECB, Senior Structural Engineer ~ Promoted to Senior Associate

Jim has 25 years of experience in structural engineering and has designed numerous projects throughout New England. He has extensive knowledge of building systems utilizing steel, wood, masonry, concrete, and pre-cast concrete elements. He has served as a Structural Engineer for new construction and major renovation projects spanning the medical, educational, commercial, industrial, housing and retail markets. In addition to having a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Jim is SECB Certified in the practice of Structural Engineering. He is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Maine, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Institute of Steel Construction.

 

 

 

David Story

David Story

David Story, PE, LEED AP Mechanical Engineer ~ Promoted to Senior Associate

Since joining Harriman 10 years ago, David has been responsible for designing heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for education, retail, and healthcare projects in both the private and the public sectors. As an integrated team leader, his communication skills amongst clients, engineers, architects and contractors have been invaluable to the success of projects. He has designed projects utilizing a variety of fuel sources, including converting steam to hot-water systems. His experience also includes design of energy efficient chilled and hot water hydronics systems, including heat-recovery ventilation systems. David is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and holds an Associate of Applied Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Peter Pinkerton NCIDQ, IIDA, Certified Interior Designer ~ Promoted to Associate

With over 15 years of interior design experience, Peter has worked on numerous projects for corporate, educational, healthcare, government and retail clients. As an experienced interior designer and project manager, Peter’s design philosophy is that all projects should be a fusion of the owner’s ideas and experiences, the project location and the designer’s articulation of the conceptual vision. His professional experience includes all aspects of interior design, including working closely with architects and engineers to develop programming and preliminary space plans, developing clients’ budgets and estimates, providing oversight of contractors in the field, and developing punch lists of final installation. He has earned the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Certificate, and is a state-certified interior designer in Maine, New York and Connecticut. Peter holds an Associate’s Degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Maine at Augusta and a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Florida State University.
