GILBANE BUILDING COMPANY NAMES MICHAEL O’BRIEN AS DISTRICT OPERATIONS MANAGER FOR MASSACHUSETTS

Gilbane recently named Michael O’Brien as District Operations Manager in its Massachusetts district.

Boston, MA – Gilbane recently named Michael O’Brien as District Operations Manager in its Massachusetts district.  In this role, O’Brien will oversee all operations department activities in the state with a focus on customer satisfaction, quality, training, and adherence to policies and procedures.  As a member of the district’s leadership team, O’Brien will also provide strategic direction as Gilbane continues its commitment to growth in Massachusetts.  Gilbane’s district office in Boston currently employs over 150 employees who deliver a full range of preconstruction, construction and program management services to clients in the Commonwealth.  The district office was named one of the Best Places to Work in Mass. by the Boston Business Journal in 2007, 2008 and 2009, and has been named to the Boston Globe 100’s Top Places to Work 2009.

O’Brien has worked with Gilbane for 16 years.  He has held the positions of Project Engineer, Senior Project Engineer, Project Manager and Project Executive.  He has overseen construction projects throughout New England and elsewhere in the Mid-Atlantic region.  O’Brien recently served as the Project Executive on the $146 million Worcester Trial Courthouse which earned a national project excellence award by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) and is the first Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) project that utilized the construction management at risk delivery method.  O’Brien will continue to oversee the DCAM Worcester Psychiatric Hospital, Taunton High and Middle School and the Worcester Crossing projects.

O’Brien earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University.  He currently resides in North Attleborough, MA with his wife, Janet and two children.
