Westfield, Ma – Brian Duffy – an Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Compliance Specialist and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) – recently passed the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) examination. This internationally recognized certification demonstrates a competitive professional edge in providing services that protect and enhance the safety of people at work and in their communities. In addition, it strengthens Tighe & Bond’s existing efforts to better serve its clients’ needs related to hazards and potential dangers in the workplace.
Duffy, who works out of Tighe & Bond’s Worcester Office, is Tighe & Bond’s practice leader in the areas of Industrial Hygiene and Indoor Air Quality. He provides EH&S services to private and public clients in industries, schools, hospitals, residences and commercial facilities.
Duffy has significant experience in evaluating and controlling workplace exposures to hazardous chemicals and other health hazards. He also has expertise in remedying “sick building” conditions to address chemical contaminants, allergens, mold, and water damage in building systems. In addition, he has developed strategies to evaluate, identify, remediate and control workplace health and safety hazards to increase worker productivity and minimize liability.
Duffy, a resident of Leominster, MA, holds a Master of Science degree in Safety Sciences from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Studies from Keene State College. He also is a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the American Society of Safety Engineers.
A CIH must meet a rigorous set of qualifications that include education, experience and passing a written examination. The American Board of Industrial Hygiene, which is accredited by the American National Standards Institute, grants CIH certification.
