Berlin, CT…The Connecticut Subcontractors Association (CSA) announced the results of the 2010 Contractor Report Card during a dinner meeting today which was held at the Hawthorne Hotel in Berlin, CT

As a service to the state’s subcontractors, CSA created a Contractor Report Card to establish a generic, but helpful business practices analysis of contractors.

To make sure all of the state’s contractors were rated, the report card was divided into three parts and subcontractors rated 30 general contractors in a series of three report cards over a six-month period in 2010.

The contractors with the highest rated scores will be inducted into CSA Gold Circle during an award ceremony scheduled for April 26, 2011. The top rated contractors include Bartlett Brainard Eacott, Inc., Gilbane Building Company and Manafort Brothers Incorporated.

The surveys were completed anonymously and individual responses were not recorded. The data collected is being published in the aggregate.

Contractors were rated on ten criteria including:

Management of the delivery of materials to the project
General oversight and control of the project
Compliance with statutory, code and inspection requirements
Coordination and management of work schedules
Management of the requisition and billing process
Timely payments to subcontractors
Knowledge and experience in performing the work
Overall performance
Close-out and final payment/retainage and
Management of change orders.

When announcing the results Bill Flynn CSA President from Electrical Contractors Inc. said, “ CSA is pleased to provide the state’ s contractors with these report cards results. We want to provide subcontractors with the tools they need to prosper economically. He added, “ This project is another indication that CSA is looking out for the state’ s subcontractors.”

The Connecticut Subcontractors Association (CSA) strives to enhance and promote the Connecticut subcontractor through education, information, networking, and legislative involvement at the national, state and local levels and all other means available to successfully accomplish these objectives. The CSA seeks to increase harmony within the industry through communication and liaison with all Connecticut based construction trade groups.
