Boston – The Executive Office for Administration and Finance (ANF) recently announced the appointment of Carole Cornelison as Commissioner of the State’s Division of Capital Management (DCAM). Cornelison is replacing Commissioner Dave Perini who announced his retirement in December.
“Carole has been an outstanding leader at BSB, and she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to DCAM,” said ANF Secretary Jay Gonzalez. “Carole is the right person to drive Governor Patrick’s plan to fundamentally reform how we manage and maintain the Commonwealth’s facilities.”
The Patrick Administration’s plan to streamline the management of state facilities, included in the fiscal 2012 budget proposal, would move management and maintenance of state facilities under DCAM. A newly-named Bureau of the State House (formerly the Bureau of State Office buildings) would continue to manage the State House. These changes will help maximize the value of dollars spent on facility maintenance and improve maintenance services.
Since 2008, Cornelison has served in the Administration as Superintendent of the Bureau of State Office Buildings, managing the Massachusetts State House, the McCormack, the Hurley and the Lindemann buildings. Cornelison is also responsible for the Springfield and Pittsfield State Office buildings.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Cornelison has had a long career working in community, housing and economic development. She served as Director of the Cincinnati Girls’ Club and Executive Director of Neighborhood Development Corporation, a local trade association for non-profit community-based development organizations in Cincinnati. Cornelison has also served as municipal manager for two suburban communities in Ohio where she developed retail, light industrial park, housing and multi-community greenway recreational facility projects. In 2004 Cornelison joined the City of Boston’s Department of Neighborhood Development. She served as Deputy Director of Homeowner Services, implementing new programs that helped low and moderate income families become homeowners.
Cornelison serves on the Board of Directors of three Boston-based non-profit agencies: Casa Esperanza; Victory Programs; and YouthBuild Boston. Cornelison lives in Randolph and has three children and ten grandchildren.
The Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) is the state agency responsible for major public building construction and real estate services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The agency was created by the legislature in 1980 to promote quality and integrity in the Commonwealth’s building construction and real estate operations. DCAM manages hundreds of millions annually in capital construction projects and more than 500 active leases comprising 7 million square feet of privately-owned lease space housing state offices. DCAM is also responsible for assisting our client-agencies in maintaining state facilities using comprehensive and cost-effective maintenance and management strategies.
