Everett, MA – BOND Civil & Utility Division, based in Everett MA, has been hired by Wind energy developer Iberdrola Renewables to build the 30-megawatt Hoosac Wind Power Plant’s initial infrastructure. The Hoosac Wind Project located in the Massachusetts towns of Florida and Monroe, has an expansive civil scope covering both Bakke Mountain and Crum Hill.

The 30-megawatt wind farm includes 20 General Electric 1.5MW wind turbines with 65-meter towers, 77-meter diameter rotors and ancillary systems. When complete, the 20-turbine array has the capacity to power approximately 9,500 homes in the region, and will be the largest wind power facility in New England.

BOND’s experienced team will self-perform and manage the land clearing, environmental controls, access roadways, extensive drainage systems, as well as the farm’s operations and maintenance facility.

BOND Civil & Utility Division, a premier contractor for energy and campus utility clients throughout the Northeast, will be challenged by the winter weather on Bakke Mountain and Crum Hill constructing turbine platforms, retaining walls and five miles of access roads throughout wooded areas surrounding the work sites. The project includes gravel access roads to the ridgelines that would house the turbines, one of which would cross 12 streams. The project will interconnect to a new 69/34.5 kV substation through a new collection system for a total capacity of 30MW.
BOND has been involved in some of the region’s most high-profile construction projects in both the building construction and civil and utility sectors of the construction industry. BOND has completed several science/lab building projects including Harvard University’s Northwest Labs in Cambridge, Stonehill College Shields Science Center, College of the Holy Cross Integrated Science Complex, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab expansion, and currently the Life Sciences Center at Dartmouth College and the Wheaton College Science Center.
