Kristen Damuth

Portland, ME – Three employees have joined the ownership ranks of SMRT Architects and Engineers, as the company continues its growth with nationwide practices providing planning, architecture, and engineering services to clients in healthcare, justice, science/technology/manufacturing, education, corporate, and government sectors.

SMRT’s newest principals include Kristen Damuth, AIA, NCARB, CSI; Michael Goard, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP; and John Tobin, AIA.

Michael Goard

Representatives of the firm say Damuth is known for her strong project management skills, particularly valued by her healthcare and education clients, and that she relishes complex new construction and repurposing difficult structures, bringing to life her vision of possibilities and creating new, functional and beautiful spaces.

Goard is a skilled architect and project manager, bringing more than 20 years of experience leading both public and private sector projects across a variety of program types. He has extensive knowledge of complex new construction, historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects, and works to identify opportunities to grow SMRT in New York, Western Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Vermont.

John Tobin

Tobin leads SMRT’s New York office, building cross-discipline teams for project delivery with a sharp focus on innovation, collaboration and delivery optimization.  He writes and speaks internationally on advanced delivery, with a particular concentration on the use of data as a catalyst for disruptive innovation, and leads SMRT’s building technology initiative.
