Hartford, CT – Amenta Emma Architects announced it received a Merit Award in the 2023 AIA Connecticut Design Awards program for 540 New Park, and two HBRA of Connecticut Home Building Industry (HOBI) Awards for Canaan Parish.
Located in West Hartford, 540 New Park is a 52-unit mixed-use, multi-family, multi-generational building designed for LEED Silver equivalency. Amenta Emma partnered with Trout Brook Realty Advisors, a nonprofit developer for the West Hartford Housing Authority, to bring the project to life. The jury commented the design is “simple and efficient while still iconic and elegant.”
Canaan Parish
Amenta Emma’s design for Canaan Parish in New Canaan involved the demolition of all existing units and the new development of approximately 100 units of affordable and market rate housing, and on-site office/clubhouse. The redevelopment included phasing to minimize the off-site relocation of existing residents. The project received Energy Star v3.1, Indoor airPLUS, and NGBS Silver + Wellness Certifications. Partnering with developer Heritage Housing Inc., Canaan Parish received awards for “Best Affordable Community” and “Best Public Private Partnership Development.”
