South Sandwich, MA – Acella Construction Corporation has been selected as the construction manager for a new dining hall for the South Shore YMCA Camp Hayward for Girls.

Through a partnership with the SSYMCA and Sheskey Architects, Acella will construct a new space for Camp Hayward for Girls that will foster a sense of community and a healthy spirit, mind, and body.

The $2.5 million project is ground-up construction of a 10,000sf dining hall. It is scheduled to be completed by May 2016.

Funds are being raised as part of Camp Burgess & Hayward’s Capital Campaign, which recently kicked off with “The Wahlberg Experience,” a fundraising event hosted at the camp to raise awareness of the Capital Campaign and the impact of the summer-camp experience on children.

The dining hall is designed for 600 campers and staff and ensures that Camp Hayward will be able to meet a growing need for quality summer camp programs and experiences for girls.

Paul Gorman, president and CEO of the South Shore YMCA, is excited to make this project a reality.  He said, “The new Camp Hayward Dining Hall will not only allow us to increase capacity and offer more girls the opportunity to attend Camp each session, the enhanced dining environment also plays an important role in establishing a healthy attitude toward nutrition, healthy eating habits, and self-image.”

“The South Shore YMCA transforms lives and makes a difference for children and families,” said Dave Dirubbo, president of Acella Construction.  “Our project team has the integrity and mutual respect to Build Better for the South Shore YMCA and our community.”
