Boston – The Awards Committee recently announced the 23 winning projects in the 2016 BSLA Awards Program. The Farnham-Connolly State Park in Canton won the Award of Excellence for Boston firm Crosby | Schlessinger | Smallridge. The Award of Excellence is given only when a project markedly demonstrates the characteristics of outstanding landscape architect. C|S|S was also awarded the first Landmark Award for its project in Cambridge and Somerville, Davis Square to Alewife Linear Park. The Landmark Award is to honor projects that have been installed for 15 or more years that have continued to contribute and grow as landscape installations.
Six honor awards and 15 merit awards were given this year. In the Landscape Analysis and Planning Categories, the three awards were all won by Sasaki Associates for projects in the Philippines, Malaysia, and China. The Award in Communications was given to Kate Kennen, ASLA, and Niall Kirkwood, FASLA, for their book on phytoremediation.
The BSLA Awards Program selected projects from 14 member firms in Massachusetts, small to large, new to established.
