Walsh Brothers Achieves Impressive Stats for Workforce Diversity at UMass Boston

statisticsBoston – After four years of tracking, Walsh Brothers is reporting impressive statistics of workforce diversity goals on the building of the UMass Boston Integrated Sciences Complex on the University’s Boston campus. In addition to traditional tracking categories, this is the first time that Veteran participation has been measured. Workforce diversity statistics reported indicated:

· 10% Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)
· 6.2% Women Business Enterprise (WBE)
· 48% Residents
· 34% Minority
· 10% Female
· 6% Veteran

Walsh Brothers’ template for ensuring balance and diversity in the workforce is based on “The Boston Plan,” a 30-year old effort administered by the Mayor’s office Boston Residents Jobs Policy (BRJP) for large projects in the City of Boston.

“Results were achieved through strict administration of the plan and careful collaboration between Walsh Brothers, the State’s Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM), Marty Walsh’s leadership of the City’s building trade unions, UMass Boston and several subcontractors committed to the effort of ensuring a diverse workforce,” said Richard Walsh, President and Chief Executive Officer of Walsh Brothers, Incorporated.
