Are You Looking for a Meaningful and Fun Volunteer Opportunity That Can Have a Positive Impact on Someone’s Life?
If so, then consider becoming a volunteer at Career Collaborative!
Career Collaborative works with adults between the ages of 19 and 55 in the Greater Boston area who are looking for quality jobs with benefits. Since 1998, Career Collaborative has helped over 2,500 individuals build careers that have changed their lives and strengthened their families. Today, Career Collaborative is an established, nonprofit workforce development organization that provides comprehensive career-development services through a unique three-step program that includes: skills assessment, group instruction, hands-on job search activities, placement assistance, intensive post-employment career coaching, and referral to support services.
Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) Boston Chapter member Doreen Bennett, office manager and marketing coordinator at BWA Architecture, has been involved with Career Collaborative since 2004. Doreen is a volunteer instructor at Career Collaborative’s evening program and teaches “Dress for Success and Cover Letter Writing.” Doreen also helps clients prepare for practice interviews and reviews basic interview questions.
Professionals from the A/E/C industry can be a vital resource for clients at Career Collaborative. There are several opportunities available, such as Practice Phone Interviewer, Job Search Coach, “Lunch and Learn” Presenter, Online Job Search Assistant, and Interview and Resume Coach. Volunteering as a group gives companies and organizations an opportunity to host a practice interview session at Career Collaborative or on-site at the company location.
Career Collaborative is actively seeking volunteers who possess strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with an ability to work with adults from diverse educational, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds. Familiarity with online job search and career exploration resources would be helpful. Fluency in other languages is a plus.
