Stamford, CT – Michael Tyre, AIA, an award-winning designer with Amenta Emma Architects, has been promoted to managing principal of the firm’s Stamford office.
He will oversee a staff of six, with Anne Loh Russo serving as lead senior designer.
Tyre joined Amenta Emma as senior associate three years ago from his own firm, Tyre Studio Architects. Since then, he has distinguished himself by leading teams on such projects as the Quinnipiac University Brand Strategy Group, the adaptive reuse and interior transformation of a 19th-century house for the organization responsible for the university’s marketing, communications, brand identity, and digital initiatives.
Tyre’s professional career includes positions at Dean/Wolf Architects, Ennead Architects, and Lewis.Tsurumaki.Lewis Architects in New York.
The Stamford office focuses on corporate and commercial interiors. This focus will continue, with a long-term plan to develop additional studios in other markets.
The Brand Strategy Group has been recognized with numerous design awards and recent publication in Interior Design Magazine and Contract Magazine.
The Stamford team also has been recognized with design awards for other recent interiors projects, including Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, MC Credit Partners, and Xylem.
Tyre values client relationships and believes the firm’s best work is derived from understanding what clients are trying to accomplish. “Until you understand the problem, the solution cannot manifest itself. You must start by truly listening to what people are saying,” explains Tyre. In Stamford, he will lead business development, oversee project management and work directly with clients.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to lead this team and elevate Amenta Emma’s core mission of bringing world-class design and technical expertise to help solve the challenges our clients face,” said Tyre.
