Turner Supports Horizons for Homeless Children

Boston – Employees from Turner Construction Company’s Boston Business Unit came together for the ninth year to donate 164 pairs of boots for children ages newborn to 6 years old, to help support Horizons for Homeless Children. Turner staff participated in the drive from various locations and jobsites and were ultimately able to collect enough donations to provide every child in each of the centers, as well as their siblings, a new pair of boots.

“The Horizons for Homeless Children boot drive has become part of our annual season here at Turner; our employees are always excited to donate and help ensure the children served by Horizons have what they need,” said Meaghan Hooper Berdik, vice president and general manager of Turner Construction Company in Boston. “We are proud to support Horizons every year and do our part to help them serve children and families in need.”

Horizons for Homeless Children works to improve the lives of young homeless children in Massachusetts and help their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support services. In nine years of donations, Turner staff have donated 1,589 pairs of boots to the organization.

“Turner Construction Company has made supporting Horizons’ children and families an annual tradition. Their employees’ donation of boots for each child ensures that they will all have warm and dry feet when the weather turns,” said Kathie Carroll Day, managing director of development corporate, foundation, & community giving at Horizons for Homeless Children. “We are so thankful for their partnership with us in delivering just what our families need when they need it.”
