CAMBRIDGE, MA [December 16, 2009] — Tsoi/Kobus & Associates (TK&A) of Cambridge (www.tka-architects.com) is proud to announce that its founding principals, Rick Kobus and Ed Tsoi, each have been recognized for exceptional accomplishments in recent days.
On December 1, Rick Kobus was named “most influential” by Healthcare Design.  Readers and its editorial board compiled the magazine’s list of twenty-five national leaders with partners at The Center for Health Design. Editor Todd Hutlock calls the list “a veritable who’s who of the healthcare design industry,” noting “surely one of the most heartening forms of praise is recognition from one’s peers.” In 2008, the magazine selected Kobus for its list of “Twenty Who Are Making a Difference.”
Meanwhile, The Salvation Army honored Ed Tsoi with its prestigious Others Award.  The award, which is the highest honor the Salvation Army bestows, recognizes an “individual or organization exemplifying an extraordinary spirit of service to others.”  Recipients are chosen for their dedication and compassion as demonstrated through “exceptional service benefiting The Salvation Army and the community.”
Tsoi has been a member of The Salvation Army’s Cambridge Corps Advisory Board since 1980. The Salvation Army released the following statement about him: “Time and again, Ed Tsoi has used his personal and professional talents to benefit The Salvation Army and the people we serve. We see him as a giant among men. He has not only supported the work of the Army personally; he has been highly successful in encouraging his firm, employees and associates to do the same.”
Now in its 26th year, TK&A has a long history of giving back to the community. In 2009, the firm completed the renovation of Putnam Place, a group home run by Cambridge Family & Children’s Service for foster teens in Dorchester, MA, as part of their 25th-anniversary celebration. TK&A also was once again named to the Boston Business Journal’s list of Top Corporate Contributors and was the top giver among local architectural firms to the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley.
