The Connecticut Architecture Foundation Announces 2022 Board

New Haven, CT – The Connecticut Architecture Foundation (CAF) announces the appointment of new officers and members of its board of directors for 2022.

The mission of the CAF is to raise and distribute funds to increase public awareness of, and expectations for, architecture and the built environment. It is guided by a volunteer board of directors composed of architects and allied professionals.

Continuing at the helm as second term officers:

Robert E. Swain, Jr.

President: Stephanie Degen-Monroe, AIA

Degen-Monroe is a licensed architect in Connecticut, and serves as senior associate working on projects at the Yale School of Medicine and Yale University. Her experience has involved large scale civic work as well as small institutional projects.

Vice President: Robert E. Swain, Jr., AIA LEED AP

Swain serves as principal-in-charge for Amenta Emma Architects’ Academic Studio and principal for the firm’s major civic work. His primary focus is on the programming, planning and architectural development of higher education and secondary school projects.

Nancy B. Clayton

Secretary: Nancy B. Clayton, AIA LEED GA

Clayton, who joined Pickard Chilton in 2002, has more than 30 years of design experience on a broad range of corporate, academic, and cultural projects. She has served as design director for several significant corporate high rise and campus projects.

Treasurer: Robert Golde, FASLA

Golde, principal at landscape architectural firm Towers|Golde, has focused his practice on developing a highly collaborative approach to site planning and context site development for projects of all types on sites large and small.

Assistant Treasurer: John P. Franzen, FAIA

Franzen brings over 30 years of professional expertise. As principal at J.P. Franzen Associates, he practices in residential, commercial and institutional architecture as well as historic preservation. He also serves on design juries throughout the country in addition to community and regional boards and commissions.

Joining the 2022 board of directors:

Randall Anway, AIA, principal, New Tapestry, LLC,  is a member of the American Institute of Architects, and the International Council on Systems Engineering. Licensed in New York and Connecticut, Anway’s work draws on over 30 years diverse experience in academic, corporate, nonprofit, and small business settings.

John P. Franzen

Cassandra Archer, AIA, NOMA, senior architect, Centerbrook Architects and Planners, began her career as a project designer. She worked for Kenneth Boroson Architects before joining Centerbrook in 2018. In 2019, Archer completed her architectural licensing. She is actively involved with NOMA CT.

Paolo Campos, AIA, NOMA principal, Patriquin Architects, has over 20 years of experience in primary and higher education, multifamily housing, master planning, and commercial work. He is one of the five founding architects of NOMA CT, where he currently serves as president.
