Belmont, MA – Nauset Construction is adding the final touches to The Bradford, the long-awaited mixed-use project in Belmont’s Cushing Square, which includes 112 new apartments, 38,000sf of retail, and newly created public open space.

The three-building complex was developed by Toll Brothers Apartment Living, a subsidiary of Toll Brothers, Inc., a national builder of luxury homes. Located at 525 Common Street within minutes of the Waverly Station Commuter Rail and directly on the MBTA 73 Bus Route to Harvard Square, The Bradford began welcoming residents in June.

Designed by Peter Quinn Architects LLC, the 167,000sf mixed-use apartment community is comprised of the 37,000sf Winslow, the 52,000sf Hyland, and the 74,000sf Pomona. The Bradford offers nine studio, 47 one-bedroom and 56 two-bedroom units, a below-grade parking garage for 202 vehicles (including 101 municipal spaces), a bike parking and sharing service, and an open air plaza.

All three wood-framed structures were built above a steel podium composite slab on deck. The facade of the Winslow is clad with brick and fiber-cement shingles; the Hyland’s exterior is comprised of Nichiha fiber-cement panels and siding with brick and cast stone at the lower levels; and the exterior facade of Pomona is a combination of limestone veneer, thin brick, Nichiha panel and precast concrete, crowned with a street-facing backlit clock.

Building amenities feature a rooftop deck with a fire pit area and grills, and a private sundeck with lounge seating and fire pits. Inside, The Bradford offers a resident lounge and library room.

The Bradford is the third multifamily project developed by Toll Brothers Apartment Living in the Greater Boston market to be completed.

The development of The Bradford is just the third multifamily development to be built in the town of Belmont since the completion of Waverly Woods, a 40-unit affordable housing development constructed in 2008.

“The town of Belmont was an ideal location for our continued expansion into the Boston metro area,” said Charles Elliott, president of Toll Brothers Apartment Living. “There is a strong demand for mixed-use, transit-oriented, multifamily housing in the inner suburbs of Boston right now, and The Bradford addresses that need.”

The property also features several tech-forward amenities, including automated package management by Package Concierge, a keyless entry security system called Latch that allows access from a smartphone, and complimentary high speed WiFi provided by Single Digits. Each apartment comes with a walk-in closet, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances and Symmons fixtures.

The Bradford is the latest luxury multifamily construction project completed by Nauset in the inner suburbs of Boston in recent years. Other projects include Hancock Estates, the 88-unit luxury apartment community in Newton for Chestnut Hill Realty, and Point 262 Condominiums, a 55-unit condominium community in East Cambridge for MINCO Corporation. Nauset has an extensive portfolio of mid-size multifamily properties in both urban and suburban settings, including multiple projects underway in Cambridge such as Park 77, which will provide 93 family-oriented units in the Alewife section of Cambridge.

“Nauset Construction continues to partner with high quality developers such as Toll Bros., which is reflective of our growing reputation as a leader in constructing multi-unit residential and mixed-use developments in urban infill areas,” said Nauset president, Anthony Papantonis.
