Technical Staff Gets Promoted

Hamden, CT – Hoffmann Architects recently announced the promotion of five members of the firm’s technical staff.

New York

Rachel C. Palisin, PE, LEED AP BD+C has been promoted to Senior Engineer, in recognition of her building enclosure and structural systems expertise and her leadership in Hoffmann Architects’ New York City office. After joining the firm in April 2016 as Project Engineer, Palisin was selected as a New York team leader in October 2016, charged with supervising and mentoring a group of rising professionals as they work to meet the challenges of building envelope evaluation and design. With a master’s degree in structural engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, Palisin pursued post-graduate studies in historic preservation at the University of Maryland School of Architecture. Active in the profession, she has published work on building enclosure design and code compliance, and she is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Structural Engineering Institute. Her recent projects include structural analysis and preservation at the Stony Brook University Health Science Center, the Argonaut Building, Lexington Armory, and the Riverdale Library in Bronx, New York. She lives in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. 

Tai Mahmuti, LEED Green Assoc. received a promotion to Project Manager, in appreciation of his comprehensive approach to solving difficult building enclosure challenges, and his teamwork in building meaningful relationships with clients, colleagues, consultants, and coworkers. A role model for junior staff and a valued team member for project managers, Mahmuti joined Hoffmann Architects in February 2015 as Project Coordinator and quickly rose in the ranks, earning a promotion to Senior Project Coordinator in March 2017. With a degree in engineering from Carleton University in Ontario, Canada, he provides assessment and design services for diverse clients, including Bank of New York Mellon, Pfizer, Scholastic, Solow Realty & Development, Cape Advisors, CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield, Barnard College, and Fordham University. He lives in New York.

Steffany Malarik, Assoc. AIA received a promotion to Project Coordinator, recognizing her technical proficiency and her team-building initiatives that promote a collaborative work environment. Whether organizing an office dodgeball team for charity play-offs or developing a difficult technical detail, Malarik shows initiative and aptitude in taking on demanding projects. After joining Hoffmann Architects in July 2015 as Project Representative, she earned a promotion in March 2017 to Senior Project Representative. A graduate of the architecture program at Pennsylvania State University, she has provided building envelope design services for Morgan Stanley, Cushman & Wakefield, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the State University of New York Purchase College, and Barnard College, among others. She lives in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

Richard W. Off, Assoc. AIA earned a promotion to Project Coordinator, in recognition of his detail-oriented approach to developing project documents and his diligence in meeting project deadlines and objectives. Less than a year after coming to work at Hoffmann Architects in April 2016 as Project Representative, he earned a promotion to Senior Project Representative, providing architectural support for projects at New York City’s historic First Presbyterian Church, Washington Irving and Countee Cullen Libraries, the State University of New York at Farmingdale, and the 1385 Broadway “Bridal Building.” He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master of architecture and urban design degree from Columbia University. He lives in Washington Heights in Manhattan.

Virginia

Daniel L. Bishop, AIA earned a promotion to Project Architect, in recognition of his advanced professional credentials and technical skill in providing investigation, design, detailing, remediation, and peer review services for building enclosure projects. In November 2011, Bishop joined Hoffmann Architects as Project Representative, and he earned a promotion to Project Coordinator in February 2014 and to Senior Project Coordinator in November 2015. A graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo with a Master of Architecture degree, Bishop studied at the Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark and is a member of the Association for Preservation Technology. His recent projects include roof and facade restoration and design for Verizon, the New York City Department of Design and Construction, the Smithsonian Institution, the George Washington University, and the United States Capitol. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
