Suffolk Wins Submarine Base Project

Suffolk Construction Company, Inc. of Boston was awarded a federal government design-build project for the Navy—an $8 million contract for a new Waterfront Operations Small Craft Facility at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton.

Suffolk is partnering with AECOM to construct the 13,498sf facility, which will consolidate port operations activities into one central building. The facility will include administrative space, classrooms, two high bays for boat maintenance and a painting booth.

“We are very excited and honored that the U.S. Department of the Navy selected Suffolk as the design-build contractor on this important project,” said John F. Fish, CEO, Suffolk Construction Company.

The Waterfront Operations Small Craft Facility is the third project that Suffolk has won on the Submarine Base New London.

Construction on the Waterfront Operations Small Craft Facility is scheduled to begin in February 2010 and will be completed in March 2011.
